So I will try to explain. Wheat contains usually gluten so type 1 diabetes and celiac diseases are connected. Patients with type 1 diabetes should avoid gluten food. That's what we say to the patients regularly. When the kernel of whole wheat is intact it's glycemic index will be around 30. When it goes under process like drilling and milling the glycemic index of wheat flour shows up to 70. It increases the post prandial blood sugar always. So whole grain variety of wheat is always preferred than the normal wheat. We can consume whole wheat chapatis rather than the normal wheat. Definitely patients can eat more rotis rather than compared with the rice which are very rich in carbohydrates. But depend up on the person and their individual weight and their capacity of eating and depending upon their BMI or all other certain factors we definitely take into picture and then they have to consume according to that. If for example I take single portion of roti it will be more than sufficient for me. If there are certain people who will be weighing more than 70 kgs or 80 kgs or even 90 kgs they have to consume at least one to two rotis or chapatis to fulfill their stomach. Otherwise they won't be feeling the satiety completion. So definitely they have to take wheat chapatis. Depending upon their portions they can use one or two chapatis with small sabzi which will be rich in green leafy vegetables. Usually our other part of the country like North India, they have aloo sabzi with rotis and puris, all those things. Definitely aloo sabzi have to be avoided in diabetic patients to keep the sugar levels under control. So we should not consume aloo as much as possible. So we can always have one to two portions of rotis or chapatis. #diabetes #diabetic #diabetescare #diabeticdiet #food #roti #chapati #diet #healthyeating #diabetesawareness #diabetescontroltips
