What is a Character Arc | Character Arc Examples

What is Transformational Character Arc -This is made up of both positive change character arc and negative change character arc. The best example of this is Anakin Skywalker. In the prequels, Anakin goes from a positive kid to an evil Lord Vader. Giving him a negative change character arc. Then in the original trilogy, we see Darth Vader go from complete evil to the end where he becomes good by saving his son Luke. Giving him a positive change character arc. 2. What is Positive Change Character Arc -This is where the character goes from a selfish character to becoming a good person. It's any character that goes from bad or neutral to good. The best example is Tony Stark in Iron Man. He starts off as a selfish billionaire to a man that gave his life for the entire universe. 3. What is Negative Change Character Arc -This is where a character goes from with a positive person or neutral person to a negative person. The best example for this would be Walter White. He starts off as a shy professor and then he becomes an egotistical drug lord. 4. What is Flat Character Arc -A flat character arc is where a character by the end of the story is UNCHANGED. The point of this is to have that character change the world around them without losing their beliefs. The best example of this would be Steve Rogers from Captain America. Throughout the entire story, he never changes from that man that would give his life as a skinny short man, to becoming the super solider. He also provides a contrast to the opposite character Red Skull. They both went through the same process but they both come out completely different. Steve Rogers stays good while Red Skull becomes worse. Thanks for watching and reading.
