Breakbeat 2 - Drum Groove "Streets of Philadelphia"

This drumbeat is the popular groove from the song "Streets of Philadelphia" by Bruce Springsteen, released in 1993. On the original song, Bruce Springsteen programmed the beat on a drum machine, but it has become a very effective groove and a classic "breakbeat" pattern. It is presented using the clock or rhythm wheel method to facilitate understanding of what is played by each limb. This is also very useful for understanding the commonalities and differences between different grooves. I designed the Groove series to be a complementary approach to traditional musical notation, presenting advantages for understanding the structure of repetitive rhythms. The geometric shape of the rhythm is immediately visible and the properties are easily recognized, making it a great learning tool for musicians to spend more time practicing the rhythm and less time figuring out what to play. To create this video series, I use After Effects for all the animations and Ableton Live to record, sequence, and process the drum sounds.
