HowTo: Multicolor Prints with a Single Extruder Using Prusaslicer - No MMU/AMS Required

Here is a quick walkthrough on how to setup Prusaslicer to do multiple colors with only one extruder and no MMU/AMS. This is really only intended for prints that have only 1-3 layers that require color changes… any more than that and it will become extremely tedious to do. 1.) set up your printer in prusaslicer to have as many extruders as you need colors 2.) set the color of each extruder 3.) add “m600” to your “tool change” custom g-code 4.) add the first, lightest color, file from the model you wish to print 5.) right-click that item and click “add part” and then “load from disk” 6.) choose the next lightest colored file that is part of your model 7.) repeat steps 5-6 until all the files have been added 8.) set each part to print with the proper color/extruder 9.) setup print settings as normal 10.) export the file as .gcode 11.) [optional] open the gcode file and remove the first “m600” code as it’s not needed… I’m unsure as to why it does this still. 12.) start printing and wait for the first color change! Happy printing!
