"Achievement Unlocked" was written to fit the varying needs of early percussion programs. The flexible instrumentation and variable number of players provide options for large or small groups, and through part doubling the piece can easily accommodate well over 20 players. There are some notable rhythms occurring repeatedly throughout the piece, and group learning of the included “Rhythm and Accent Studies” page will help players better understand the parts they are playing and the parts they are hearing within the ensemble. There are plenty of chances for keyboard, battery, and accessory percussionists to shine, and challenging parts are repeated often so that players can thoroughly understand them. Above all else, this piece is meant to be a FUN celebration of achieving a goal together! This unique series was designed specifically for young percussionists as they experience the magic of playing in a percussion ensemble. Each piece provides the director and students with great flexibility – from the number of players to the tempo to the instrumentation. Light a fire under your students today! INSTRUMENTATION Required for Performance Glockenspiel Xylophone (or Marimba) [Keyboard 1] Marimba [4.3-octave] [Keyboard 2] Snare Drum High Drum (higher toms, high snare w/ snares off, high hand drum, etc.) Low Drum (lower toms, floor tom, low snare w/ snares off, low hand drum, etc.) Bass Drum Crash Cymbals Flexible Percussion Ensemble The director may add any of these parts according to availability and discretion. Vibraphone (may substitute w/ any other mallet instrument) Two Drums Timpani [2 drums] Auxiliary Percussion 1(2 players): Tambourine, Suspended Cymbal Auxiliary Percussion 2 (2 players): Hi-Hat, Ride Cymbal, Wind Chimes, Triangle Auxiliary Percussion 3 (2 players): 2 Woodblocks, Shaker All parts may be doubled as needed to include more players.
