Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency is the most common red blood cell (RBC) enzyme defect that leads to hemolytic anemia. Decreased levels and activity of the pyruvate kinase enzyme leads to defects in the glycolysis pathway, impaired ATP production and subsequent deformities in RBC shape. Hey everyone!
