Meet the Italian international who has never set foot in the country - Stumped, BBC World Service

We speak to Ben Manenti who was born in Australia, but represents Italy. Click here to subscribe to our channel 👉🏽 https://bbc.in/3VyyriM On this week's Stumped with Alison Mitchell, Charu Sharma and Clint Wheeldon, we discuss player welfare and ask whose responsibility is it? Including The Hundred, there are 121 days of men’s domestic cricket scheduled in England this summer, not counting other fixtures against universities or National Counties. Former England captain Joe Root has been speaking about the domestic cricket schedule and calls it “not fit for purpose” after research from the Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA) found 81% of players expressed concerns about the physical toll of the fixture list. Plus, what do Sir Donald Bradman, Michael Di Venuto, Luke Ronchi, Spencer Johnson and Adam Zampa all have in common? They all have Italian heritage, and for Sydney-born all-rounder Ben Manenti, his family tree helped change the course of his international career. Instead of pulling on the Baggy Green of his native Australia, he and his brother Harry, will be pulling on the blue of the Azzurri instead. With European qualifying for the 2026 T20 World Cup taking place in June, and an Olympic Games on the horizon, how is cricket growing in a football-mad country? ---------------- This is the official BBC World Service YouTube channel.
