How to know when to Buy or Sell your Stocks

In this video I’m going to share whether now is a time to BUY, SELL or hold? And by the end of this video you will have a much better idea as to what you should do. 📈 Get FREE Stocks: https://magic.freetrade.io/join/bret/... Now let’s dive in, and have a look at what’s currently happening with the market. This is super important because it helps me come to terms with a potential drop that might be around the corner, and gives me time to consider if I want to sell any of my positions or buy more, or hold. Emotions in stocks are a serious driver. So what’s happening in the stock market now? The end of last week saw - 7% wiped off Facebook show on app - 8% drop in Goldman Sachs - 7% wiped off Nike There are a number of reasons these stocks have seen recent sell offs e.g. Facebook are facing boycotting from some of their biggest ad spenders. So for individual reasons like this, we can’t take individual stocks as an overall market indicator. So let’s look at the top indexes instead – these are indexes that track the overall market performance. 1. S&P 500 – 500 largest publicly traded companies 2. DOW - 30 well-established stocks, selected because they’re relatively stable leaders in their respective industries 3. NASDAQ – heavily tracks technology companies So, prior to June, these indexes, as well as a lot of individual stocks, had been rallying to new heights. It was as if there is no chance of another coronavirus spike, a vaccine was imminent and the worst was behind us. However what we’re now seeing is an INCREASE in coronavirus cases, especially in the US, which is a big concern to US stock market investors. We still have no vaccine – and even when we do get a break through, it’s likely to take until 2021 (minimum) until we see it become available to the public. So, what does this mean for you? For your investment? Is it too late to enter the market now, Or is it a good time? That depends, on a number of factors – Mainly: - Your investment risk profile - How liquid you need your money to be… and over how long? Dollar-cost averaging is when you buy equal dollar amounts of investments at regular intervals. This takes advantage of dips in the price and means that you don’t need to be too concerned about buying your entire position at once. This is good for passive investors and takes some of the risk away from going in too heavy at a bad time. So if you are a passive investor who sets aside a % of your income each month to invest, which is what I do, you might want to consider continuing to buy, even now. Should you buy? Think about threat of second coronavirus wave – not currently priced into stock market, however we’re seeing a suggestion that that might be about to change next week. Should you Sell? If you currently have a position in the stock market and can afford to leave your money in there you might want to consider holding your stocks – if you’re confident that you’re invested in solid businesses that you think will recover. Never invest more than I can afford, because then it sort of stops being investing and becomes more like gambling. Conclusion This really comes down to your personal circumstances and is going to be different for everyone. Depends on your financial position right now, and your investing goals over a set period of time.
