No BS Advice for Your Instructional Design & eLearning Development Career in 2024

#InstructionalDesign #eLearning #LearningAndDevelopment #TransitioningTeachers I'm going on my 17th year working in this industry of instructional design and eLearning development, and it's crazy to think about how much our industry has and hasn't changed in that time. I've also been reflecting these last few weeks about what advice I'd give myself if I were just starting my instructional design and eLearning development career in 2024. And, as I've talked about before, there's a lot of concern and buzz about whether or not the instructional design industry is becoming saturated. However, as I see it, the real issue is a saturation of bad advice—bad advice that is often sold as hacks, tricks, or magic bullets that are somehow going to help you achieve overnight success and financial freedom without all of the stress and headache of actually doing the hard work. But, for those of you who know me and have been around here for more than a hot minute, you know how much I can't stand that sort of fake influencer BS! So, in this video, I'm sharing the three pieces of advice I'd give myself if I were in the same shoes many of you are in, starting or getting started with your instructional design and eLearning development career in 2024. And, as you watch it, I want you to think of everything I say as a pep talk to help you focus on what's important for your own career success in the new year. ---- When you're ready, here are three ways I can help you: 1️⃣ Snag a Copy of My Book: https://amzn.to/3TZ56PR 2️⃣ Book a 1-Hour Clarity Call: https://calendly.com/timslade/clarity... 3️⃣ Apply for My Multi-Week Cohort Program: https://elearningacademy.io/academy/ ---- Timestamps: 00:00 Intro 00:35 The Saturation of Bad Advice in Our Industry 03:12 Be More Intentional About Your Professional Development 06:54 Take Accountability for Your Own Success 09:14 Prioritize Quality Over Quantity 13:06 Closing
