The Grant Tree trail officially made it to our top hiking trails in Sequoia and Kings National Parks. We highly recommend this trail if you are visiting the Kings Canyon. This trail is shaded and accessible to wheelchairs and strollers and located just 29 miles from the General Sherman Tree Trail. Here you will find the second-largest tree in the world, The General Grant Tree. It is not one of the oldest, but it has the advantage of growing in a spot with bright sunlight and plenty of water, so it grew larger quickly. This tree holds two additional titles: the #NationsChristmasTree (not the National Christmas Tree, which gets decorated in Washington, D.C.) and the country's only living #USNationalShrine. The Grant Tree Facts: Height: 268.1 feet (88.7 meters) Ground circumference: 107.5 feet (32.8 meters) Trunk volume: 46,608 cubic feet (1320 cubic meters) P.S. During our hike last weekend, they were not requiring a mask on the trail. But that probably changed due to the recent changes in Covid-19 protocols.
