Roberto Bertero at the organ of Turin’s Santuario della Consolata (Church of the Virgin of the Consolation). In this video I am playing a transcription that J.S. Bach made of a Vivaldi’s Concerto. Bach studied the Italian style extensively, and it became his custom to transcribe (for harpsichord and/or organ) the works of several great composers of his time, including of course Vivaldi. The concert I’ve here recorded is divided into 3 Movements, the first "Without tempo indication", the second "Larghetto" and the third "Allegro", and refers to Vivaldi's Op.3 n°9, RV 230 (Bach’s BWV 972). I remember listening to this piece for the first time when I was still young, masterfully performed at the organ by the person who would later become my teacher in Zurich’s Tonhalle master classes: Jean Guillou.
