Bodycam: Illinois Woman Laughs, Plays Dumb After Killing Two People in Deadly DUI Crash

Bodycam footage captures the callous behavior of an Illinois woman who laughed and played dumb after killing two people in a deadly DUI crash on April 10, 2022. Stephanie Melgoza, who blew three times over the legal limit, failed sobriety tests administered by East Peoria officers at the scene. Despite the tragic consequences of her actions, the clearly intoxicated Melgoza showed no remorse, even referencing the private university she was set to graduate from, saying "This doesn't happen. I go to Bradley." At one point in the hospital, after learning the two victims had died, an officer lambasts her for continuing to joke around, calling her "pathetic." Ultimately, Melgoza pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated DUI death and two counts of aggravated reckless driving.
