How to perform an isolation vs cateye antibrid, a 1 minute tutorial for poi spinning! Learn the basics of poi dancing in a small, bite-sized video that covers the basics of isolation vs cateye antibrids. Got a suggestion for a 1 minute tutorial? Let me know down in the comments! Start with your hand and poi pointed straight down on your centerline. Pull your hand up toward one of your shoulders and see if you can get the poi head to travel to the opposite shoulder and drop both back down your center line. Now try to pull your hand up toward the opposite shoulder. Bounce back and forth like this with your hand going from shoulder to shoulder and the poi always going to the opposite shoulder and both passing straight down through your centerline. Pick a side and when your poi is coming up that side give it an extra tug to pop it up and sneak your hand around underneath it before returning both hand and poi back down to centerline. Repeat this movement to have the poi create an ellipse shape--this is a cateye! Now spin an isolation with your other hand in buzzsaw plane. Try to match up the poi head performing the isolation with the hand performing cateye to complete the pattern. Beware of moving the iso hand back and forth in a straight line--it's very easy to fall into! Make sure that the hand is going up and down and tracing out a complete circle.
