The Democratic Republic of the Congo is the second largest country in Africa. It borders nine countries: Angola, Burundi, the Central African Republic, the Republic of Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. 2. Richest Country in the world in terms of Natural resources. It has very huge deposits of Gold, copper, cobalt, Tin, Tungsten and other types of minerals. 3. Home to the Shortest people in the world. The Pygmies are shortest people in the world and they live in the Congo Rainforest. 4. DR Congo has 200 Ethnic groups with 250 languages spoken. Kinshasa, the capital, is the second largest French-speaking city in the world. 5. DR Congo got its first ATM in 2010. Because of two devastating civil wars and decades of economic stagnation, ATMs began appearing in the DRC only in 2010. 6. DR Congo is home to Africa's oldest National Park, The Virunga National Park. It is home to rare mountain gorillas, lions, and elephants. The park is currently under threat by the UK oil company, Soco, which has begun oil exploration there. 7. Only 10% of citizens have access to electricity. less than 10% of the population has access to electricity today yet the country is very rich in terms of natural resources. 8. Rumble in the Jungle took place in the DR Congo. The famous fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman in 1974 took place in the capital Kishasa. 9. Mobutu Sese Seko's children used to fly to France on a daily to go to school. He was one of the most extravagant leaders Africa has ever had. 10. DR Congo was Africa's Music Power house for 2 decades. The lingala type of music rocked the continent for quite a long period with great artists like Pepe Kalle, Kanda Bongo man, Madilu system, Kofi Olomide and many others.
