Well, the share is a type of investment and when the company makes a profit, the company announces Dividend on these shares. There are three situations explained in this session, 1. When the company has just launched its shares, at this time Face Value = Market Value. This is known as shares at par 2. When the company is making a profit, at this time Face Value is lesser than the Market value. This is known as shares at a premium 3. When the company has suffered a loss, at this time face value is greater than the market value.
