Marco Reus opened the scoring early, capitalising on a mistake by Bayern goalkeeper Tom Starke, who replaced an injured Manuel Neuer. BVB kept their lead until just after the break, when Arjen Robben scored the equaliser with a header. Dortmund, playing in front of their home crowd, responded almost immediately with two goals inside two minutes. First, Daniel Van Buyten deflected a cross into his own net, then Ilkay Gündogan curled the ball past Starke from the edge of the box. After Robben's second of the match Bayern piled on pressure but it was again Reus who sealed the victory for BVB four minutes from time. Bayern still had a great 2013/14 season under Guardiola winning the Bundesliga title and the DFB Cup.
