All too often, you see folks just using the Soma Lab Lyra for ambient music. That's great, but what it really is crying out for is a big stinky drum beat. In my opinion, it's perfect for atmospheric techno, in the vein of Nina Kraviz. To test this out, my friend Al and I put together this track. He played with the Lyra 8 and wrote the drum patterns, then I pulled it together in the Dirtywave M8. Here is the track, combined with some glitchy visuals that I recorded using my analogue video rig. Big thanks to Signal Sounds for letting me borrow one of their demo Lyra 8 units to trial.
