HAPPY ADVENTURES IN MINDANAO PHILIPPINES | ISLAND LIFE

Good day friends! If you like our videos and want to support our channel you may send us a SUPERTHANKS or donate to our accounts PayPal: islandlife1221 (Darlene Bumacod) Gcash: 09123132322 (Boris Kuznetsov) Thank you so much for watching! Today we continue to explore the island of Mindanao. We had lunch at a carinderia, got on our motorcycle and headed into the jungle on steep mountain roads. We climbed up the mountain and admire the breathtaking view of Davao Bay and Maco where we live. Then we continued our adventure. We want to find the river and stopped at an intersection to ask for directions. In a tree we saw tropical birds that the locals had caught. Boria and I were frightened when a bird jumped off the perch at the sight of us and hung upside down on the rope that was tied to the tree by its leg. It could die like that. But soon the bird deftly climbed back into its place. Turns out it's a Philippine Hanging Parrot. They got that name because they rest and sleep upside down like bats. When danger arises, the parrots open their toes and fall down, opening their wings on the fly. But the locals have somehow adapted to catch them. In general, I noticed that in the Philippines, animals are often tied by their feet so that they do not run away. The chicken is also in custody. Probably so the chickens don't run away. There are several species of these parrots on the Philippine islands. They nest in hollow trees, and unusually, the female collects and brings material for the nest. Their beaks and feet are not big, so they can't carry much. So they tear strips off the leaves of trees, stick them between their feathers and fly home.Boria asked me if we could buy these birds and set them free, but I said that would only make things worse. Catching birds would become a business for them and they would catch even more. We drove on to find a place to swim. On the way we met a horse and a huge tree with some berries. We did not dare to try them. We had to cross a ford across a river and a cacao plantation. Then we hiked through the jungle and finally found a quiet lagoon with small waterfalls. The water is refreshing on a sweltering tropical day. This place is like being lost in the jungle. It's just me and Darlene. We swim and snorkel in the mountain river. It is very beautiful and tropical birds are singing and the water is noisy. We enjoy the sounds of nature in this tropical paradise. We cliff dived into the water, rode water slides and relaxed on the warm rocks. On the way back, it started to rain and we struggled to get out of the jungle and onto a normal road. Today was an amazing day. We are wet but happy to be back home. We love the island of Mindanao and the Philippines.
