This is a clip from my full Girl Scout Gold Award presentation, The Cries of the Golden Land, on genocide throughout history, with a focus on the more recent Rohingya Genocide, and how to recognize and prevent genocide. Key Questions: Why do we study history? **Corrections: Aung San Suu Kyi served as State Councilor of Myanmar from 6th of April 2016 - 1st February 2021, not as president. The Rohingya Genocide began before the military coup under Aung San Suu Kyi. However, military officials at that time held significant and growing power in state affairs. Additionally, Suu Kyi had promised the eventual return of the Rohingya refugees into the country, which is currently denied under the leadership of the military coup.
