Tiger I : Let it roar again !!!

The Musée des Blindés is launching a major fund-raising campaign on Ulule to finance the restoration of this unique tank! To donate: https://www.ulule.com/restauration-ti... Of the 1,354 Tigers produced by Germany during the war, only six originals still exist. And of these rare survivors, only the one in the Musée des Blindés still has all its original parts, including its precious engine block! For 70 years, it has slept deep in the museum, and enthusiasts and visitors alike are waiting to hear its real roar again! The engine block has been preserved in exceptional condition. Once restored, with period mechanical parts or parts reconstituted from the originals, this tank will be able to recreate the power of the vehicle, the mobility, the sound and the smell of the Tigers as they were perceived 80 years ago. It will then be the only complete and authentic Tiger I in working order in the world: a major scientific, historical and memorial project. Why save Private 114? This very young Tiger, produced in the final hours of the war, showed its claws during the famous Battle of Normandy. As it fled the Falaise pocket, it collided with another Tiger at full speed. Stopped by the impact, the crew was partly taken prisoner and the Tiger was abandoned on the side of the road. It was later recovered by French resistance fighters and took part in the liberation of France and even the occupation of Germany, in a sort of historic 'return to sender'. After serving longer in the French colours than in the German, under the name of Bretagne and then Colmar, he was the last Tiger to see active service. But his career did not come to an end when his unit was disbanded. It continued its life as a "laboratory tank", where it was finely studied and tested to enable French engineers to make up the technological lost ground accumulated during the four long years of occupation. Repatriated to France after these tests, our Tiger fell asleep at Satory, near Paris, where it was stored in the open air and then in a hangar. Spotted by the founder of the Musée des Blindés, Michel Aubry, it was obviously one of the first tanks to be sheltered with all the respect due to one of the nation's valiant fighters. lp us save this valiant veteran of the nation, this mechanical jewel, this last complete and authentic specimen. How can we do this? By donating to the ULULE campaign: https://www.ulule.com/restauration-ti... INCREDIBLE REWARDS !!!!!
