Michael G. Ronstadt - Foolish Fox (Official Music Video)

Michael G. Ronstadt - Foolish Fox (Official Music Video) iTunes - https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/foo... Filmed & Edited by Adam Ingram Perry (http://www.adamingramperry.com/) Watercolor Artwork by Edgar Phoenix (https://www.edgarphoenix.com/) Song Written/Performed by Michael G. Ronstadt (http://www.michaelronstadt.com/) Walking around Cincinnati with his cello and a 1 person camera crew, Michael G. Ronstadt, cellist and songwriter, releases the official music video for "Foolish Fox," the title track off his 2015 album. In hopes of revitalizing this gem of an album, Michael wanted to share the artistic vision of videographer and film-maker Adam Ingram Perry, in conjunction with Michael’s vision for the original song. Foolish Fox is a short video/film where you can experience the stark winter landscape of Cincinnati, with snow fully melted and the wet earth bare. The main character travels by foot with his cello, weaving in between nature and human structures, finding time to close his eyes and play his music along the way. Whether it is under a train bridge, where the smell of oil is more prominent than the jagged train-yard terrain, or along the serene creek at French Park, Michael plays the character of a wandering, vagabond cellist/musician and this role is not too far from Michael’s own experience. He has been lucky enough to always have a roof under his head, but like most musicians and artists who go all in to create and put themselves into the world, he always remembers how close he came to being homeless on multiple occasions between 2009 and 2013. Filmed in locations across Cincinnati, Ohio, including historic Lindner Park, the streams/pathways at French Park, Covington, Kentucky’s Devou Park with stunning city views, the John A. Roebling Bridge on the Cincinnati waterfront at night, various train yards on the west side of downtown, the Gilbert Ave and Court St walking bridge up to Mt. Adams/Eden Park, Everybody’s Records in the small neighborhood of Pleasant Ridge, and finally the 1904 built warehouse called Longworth Hall, which happens to be the same year that the song’s inspiration, “Foolish Fox,” was published in Philadelphia. Michael has traveled over 30,000 a year since 2007 in pursuit of touring and did not move to a city that felt like a permanent home until 2014 when Cincinnati pulled him in for good. Growing up in Tucson, Arizona, traveling to the midwest, out to Philadelphia and then back to the middle of the country has connected Michael to the multiple communities, where friends, fellow musicians, and fans have basically become extended family. He keeps in touch with these communities by visiting when traveling through and performing for everyone. He has played over 300 shows each year since 2008 and about 100 per year from 2002-2008, when earning his two music degrees in cello performance. The wide-spanning genre explorations, 100’s of albums, teaching private lessons, leading workshops at summer camps/festivals, and keeping afloat fully on music income has been his journey and the video expresses one aspect of that journey. The song was inspired by the violent children’s tale, “Foolish Fox”, published by the Henry Altemus Company in 1904. Although the song doesn’t re-tell the tale, it does talk about the general premise that even though the honest fox suffered the most due to his brothers’ illicit activities, his “foolish wisdom,” in taking the blame and confessing for his brothers, still put him at King Lion’s right. He was honored and revered in the end. If you look at how musicians and artists plan their lives and make choices, on paper it looks extremely foolish and impossible. Yet by aiming higher than feasible, the artists’ “foolish wisdom” can put a musician in a good place. Through being honest and real, expressing art in a way that connects with other humans, all our experiences can be understood and a level of empathy that reaches people who don’t usually connect on a regular basis. Music is the glue and the artist gives up the usual luxuries granted by a normal day-job in order to add more beauty into the world, simply because it is the right and honest thing to do.
