The Battle of Rosbach (The Battle of Rosbach) was a battle that took place on November 5, 1757 at the village of Rosbach, in Saxony, near Merseburg, during the Seven Years' War between the troops of the Prussian King Frederick the Great, who had at his disposal 24 thousand soldiers and 72 guns, and the combined French—Imperial army, under the command of Prince Soubise and Prince of Saxe-Hildburghausen (42,600 soldiers and 109 guns). The Allies, having crossed the Saale River, established themselves on the Mucheln heights; Friedrich settled down between the villages of Bedra and Rosbach. When the Allied army moved to bypass Friedrich's left flank, Seydlitz, with Prussian cavalry, attacked and overthrew the enemy, who was still on the move. The reserve sent by Soubise could not withstand the fire of the batteries erected by Frederick on Janus Hill, and the defeat of the allies was complete.
