Presenters: Tatjana Karaulac, Statistics and Monitoring Specialist, Data & Analytics Section, UNICEF Attila Hancioglu, Chief, Data Collection Unit/ MICS Global Coordinator, Data & Analytics Section, UNICEF Abstract: MICS Plus is a new initiative of UNICEF's Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) programme to support countries in conducting longitudinal household surveys using phones and collecting representative data and reporting on a near real-time basis. Built on 25 years of experience with MICS, MICS Plus can be used for crisis monitoring (most recently during the COVID19 pandemic), measuring programme coverage, opinion polling, and generating data on indicators of child wellbeing. Bios: Tatjana Karaulac is a Statistics and Monitoring Specialist at the Data Collection Unit, Data & Analytics Section, at UNICEF HQ in New York, in charge of coordinating the MICS Plus initiative. Tatjana joined UNICEF in 2013 and worked on coordination of and technical support to the design, implementation and analysis of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) in ECAR countries and DPR Korea. Prior to joining UNICEF, she worked for six years in the government sector on employment, monitoring and evaluation, and macroeconomic research and forecasting, and as a Teaching Assistant in Statistics at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade. Attila Hancioglu is the Chief of the Data Collection Unit, Data & Analytics Section, at UNICEF HQ in New York. As the Global Coordinator, since 2004, of the UNICEF-supported Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) programme, he has coordinated and provided technical support to the implementation of more than 200 MICS surveys around the world and organized/facilitated more than 60 regional MICS workshops. His areas of expertise include survey methodology, assessment of data quality, data disaggregation, and analysis of child mortality. Before UNICEF, Attila was Head of the Technical Demography Department, at the Hacettepe Institute of Population Studies, Ankara.
