The League of Nations: Decline and Fall (From the UN Archives 1970)

This film is the history of the League of Nations from 1930 to the onset of the Second world War: that 10-year span ending when Geneva, surrounded by Axis Powers, almost faded into memory. Using historical footage and special interviews with Anthony Eden and Philip Noel-Baker, among others, the film stresses the League’s efforts to contain the dictators. It tells of the collapse of the 1932 Disarmament Conference, the onset of aggression in Manchuria and Ethiopia, Hitler’s move into Austria and Czechoslovakia, and the final slide into the Second World War.
