She twirls a parasol and listens to a gramophone. Her dog sits beside her, she feeds him titbits. (Damaged section of film) The dog sits on her lap in the hammock and she smiles at the camera. "It's a great thing to have an expressive face..." Gertrude pulls faces as she eats an apple and plays with her dog. C/U of Gertie sitting in a deck chair. She puts a hat on and pulls a face. "Don't interrupt me, I'm busy," said Mr Stanley Turnbull, the Comedian in his dressing room. So we stopped and looked - at the business." C/U of Mr Turnbull sitting at a desk. He reads a newspaper. C/U shows he is looking at the racing section of the newspaper. M/S of Stanley, he puts his hand over his eyes and randomly places a pencil on a piece of paper. He is presumably picking a horse. He picks up the telephone and places a bet. He looks impatient. "Five pounds each way" etc. M/S of Stanley as he begins to make himself up for the stage. He checks the racing results.
