This keynote presentation was delivered at the PMRE (Photography and Media for Real Estate) conference in November 2022 to 300 in person attendees at the Southpoint Grand Ballroom in Las Vegas, NV. It includes an historical look at spatial computing and how it fits into the next generation of the internet, and builds on Emily Olman's decades long interest in the future of media (Chief Media Officer, Hopscotch Interactive) Emily has been fascinated by technology and humanity for as long as she can remember, rooting itself deeply while in college and writing her senior thesis on cybernetic humans (cyborg studies). She has been on a lifelong journey of trying to understand our relationship to machines, and to build bridges between people from different worlds. Owing her interest in the subject following college to a love of media and frontier tech, she began her career in the gaming industry at Ziff Davis Media's Game Group (Electronic Gaming Monthly, Computer Gaming World, Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine, and Expert Gamer), followed by Japanese anime (NewType USA, Anime Network, Anime Network on Demand, ADV Films), and international relations (Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship, Aspen Institute, Berlin School of Creative Leadership). Hopscotch Interactive is a new media agency she founded in 2015 to have a platform for storytelling about place and creative endeavors. She is a leading voice in the XR world, member of the AWE Advisory Council, and host & ambassador of the AUREA Awards for Excellence in XR for Entertainment at EuropaPark, now entering its 6th year.
