The ASU Core Research Facilities house state-of-the-art equipment, including our new Bruker rapifleX MALDI TissueTyper, an instrument used to characterize various small molecules and macromolecules. This powerful instrument is housed in our Mass Spectrometry core at the ASU Biodesign Institute. Mass spectrometry is an analytical tool used to measure the mass-to-charge ratio in a sample of molecules. The MALDI TissueTyper has a smartbeam 3D laser, allowing for faster, better-defined imaging. It is more robust with its novel ion source than some other tissue typing instruments.
