Audio Book "Possessed" by Thomas B. Allen Read by Richard Poe 1993

"Possessed' The true story of an Exorcism (abridged) by Thomas B. Allen. Read by Richard Poe 1993. In August 1949, a headline in the Washington Post caught the eye of William Peter Blatty, then a Georgetown University undergraduate: : "Priest frees Mt. Rainier Boy Held in Devil's Grip", it said. The story went on to describe many of the bizarre and harrowing events that Blatty would later draw upon in his celebrated novel, The Exorcist. More than forty years later, the redoubtable Tom Allen has researched every fact and tracked down every living witness to the exorcisms of the Mount Rainier Boy; exorcisms that actually took place over a period of several months in Maryland, Washington D.C., and --at last, successfully---in St. Louis Missouri; exorcisms that required a Lutheran minister, a Catholic Priest, and---in the end---a whole team of Jesuits in order to succeed. Allen's search began when a detailed diary mysteriously came into his hands, a diary kept by one of the Jesuits, discovered hidden in a locked room of a St. Louis mental hospital. But the evidence he has uncovered in his subsequent investigations is so shocking, so chilling, and so credible that it needs no hyperbole. Suffice it to say that as you listen to this story, you will understand at last the force of the old maxim that truth is stranger than fiction. The majority of these audiobooks, which were converted from audio cassette tapes into digital Mp3 files are over 30 years old. Some of the cassette tapes had to be taken apart and spliced back together, which can be a very delicate procedure. Just a little something I thought I would do so I could salvage these particular works and share these with others before the tapes and tape players deteriorated completely and as the world of analog recording becomes completely obsolete. They are not true books because they are abridgements but I hope most of you will enjoy and appreciate them for what they are, as I once did. Thanks for taking the time to stop by and visit.
