As much as 15 cm of snow expected in the heaviest snow bands off of the lakes. There were very wind gust like blizzard and fast accumulation of snow. The weather was changing really fast. This is the first big snowstorm of 2023 - 2024 winter season. Lake-effect snow is produced during cooler atmospheric conditions when a cold air mass moves across long expanses of warmer lake water. The lower layer of air, heated by the lake water, picks up water vapor from the lake and rises through colder air.
