The pair lands on the label to deliver a selection of four original cuts with their signature groovy sound, plus two reworks from Ketch and Danny Wabbit. Expect plenty of groove, fast and shifting patterns and nods to the minimal era of Techno on this one. Opening up, we find the track which gives the name to the release. “Rückzug” kicks off with a punchy kick, lively claps and snares, bleeps and a recurring echoing vocal that sticks in your head throughout the whole piece. “Rush Hour” takes the energy one step forward with an alarm-like sound that will build tension on any dancefloor. Organic drum sounds and polyrhythmic arpeggios are present on most of the track, and on the drops, the rides fall out before the hefty bassline takes over again with more drone-like sounds. Perfect for setting the tone on a set. Things head towards fresher and groovier territories on “Libertad”. The latin infused percussions start to appear as the track advances, leading up to fully exotic vibes that will spread sexyness around dancers with its enigmatic female voice. On “Fluid”, toms take over the rhythm, along with a gripping atmosphere by a somewhat screeching sound and a hypnotic arpeggiator that is paired with agile claps and percussions. Another heater from the twain. With a muscled up version of “Rückzug”, Ketch brings his vision of the original to deliver an energetic stomper characterized by its dubby synth and a reappearing horn-like sound with a kind of twisted vibe to it. A fantastic companion to the rest of the EP. Boy wonder Danny Wabbit completes the release with a refreshing remix of “Libertad”.
