Songwriter: Kurt Cobain Writing Period: 1991 Recording Session: 05-06/91 Sound City Studios, Van Nuys, CA Common Mislabels: None Documented In the last week of April 1991, NIRVANA journeyed down to Los Angeles to begin recording their major label debut, Nevermind. It was the band's own decision to have Butch Vig as their producer, choosing him over several other big-name producers, including Scott Litt, Don Dixon and David Briggs. Vig had built up a good rapport with the band through his work on the Smart sessions. "It was such a great experience working with him in Madison", recalls Krist Novoselic. "The label wanted us to work with other people, but it was kinda intimidating, and we were comfortable with Butch." "At that point, I'd never done any work in Los Angeles", says Vig, "but I knew that was where the band wanted to work, and I knew of Sound City's reputation. The studio is renowned for it's large live room and vintage Neve 8028 console. I worked out a deal so it was cost-effective for us to go there. It was sight unseen. We just booked it and went in." he band recorded this track live, with Cobain again providing a scratch vocal. It was quickly dropped after a guitar overdub was completed. Kurt Cobain later gave the song to Courtney Love and Hole released their rendition on some formats of the '93 EP Beautiful Son, which featured a photo of a young Cobain as the front artwork. Hole also released the song on My Body, The Hand Grenade in '97, and played the song during their 1995.02.14 MTV Unplugged session. from Disc 2 of "With the Lights Out" Lyrics One more day to complete my service One more high to decay my nevous Wondering how I'm gonna find a way It's over One more day to complete my service One more time here to fade, my servant One more day if I find a way Over She seemed to read minds And I know a later time We could make it with you Leave the soul Old age Old age Old age Old age One more day to complain, my servant One more doubt here to find a servant One more time here if I find a way It's over Wondering how I'm here to date my cover One more doubt here to save my never Wondering how I'm gonna find a way It's over She seemed to read minds And I know a later time We could make it with you Leave the soul Old age Old age Old age Old age Just you need and read, you flew And knew you read , you flew One more day to concrete my circuit One more high here to find my nervous Someday I'm gonna find a way It's over One more doubt here to claim my supper I can have anything you want to One more day if I find a way It's over She seemed to read minds And I know a later time Breathe the way here with you Dream the same on dew Breathe the same on her Take a moan on a man Breathe the shame on you Breathe the lie Old age Old age Old age Old age Old age Old age Old age
