The #Authortube community is fond of writing sprints and #productivity livestreams, so I made another countdown timer. This one is for 15 minutes, and I made it using #KineMaster on my phone. Step 1: well, first I made that picture of my Avatar reading. The cartoon itself comes from Bitmoji, remember, I'm a blind writer, I can't animate myself so, I used the app as a shortcut. Thank you, Bitmoji! 1.A: I erased the background from the Bitmoji image using the app Background Eraser, very easy to use. 1.B: In Canva, I worked with the YouTube Thumbnail template, I designed the rest of the "room" from scratch adding some images and shapes to create the window frame. After I saved it, I went back to that Background Eraser app to delete the inside of the window so I could add whatever picture of video I want later in KineMaster. Step 2: Right, now inside KineMaster, I added a picture of snowy woods at night as the main layer, and pan & zoom so it would fit better where the window frame goes. I stretched the image to last a bit over 15 minutes and then added the Canva picture as a second layer. 2.A: I added the Stellar Aurora overlays and clicked on "Send to back" so the lights appear as if they are outside the window. Then I used the blending option and clicked on Overlay so the lights looked closer to what I remember when I saw the lights. 2.B: I had downloaded a free green screen countdown that I like, there are a few available. I added the video as another layer, and I clicked on the chroma key feature to remove the green background, and also, played with the settings a bit so the numbers themselves got an opacity to blend better with the background. Step 3: I added a few sound effects at the start and end to alert when the time is up, and I added my name at the bottom corner. Then exported the video and waited, and waited... I hope this gives you ideas to make your own countdown timers that fit nicely with your brand. If you host your own sprints, this could be a nice addition to the unique feel of your shows. I have a live stream every Wednesday at 2pm EST. It's called Writer In The Dark, and I do writing sprints plus some fun and interesting conversations with whoever joins in the live chat.
