💵 PURSUIT of bank robbery and stolen vehicle suspect - Arkansas State Police help in capture

Trooper's Report: On Friday, May 3rd, 2024, at approximately 11:35 P.M., the West Memphis Police Department dispatched officers to 301 Shoppingway Boulevard, in reference to Evolve Bank being robbed at gunpoint. WMPD dispatch advised the suspect vehicle was a black sedan with a missing rear bumper that was traveling east on West Service Road. Dispatch was able to relay locations on the vehicle due to Evolve Bank having a tracker with the stolen money. West Memphis Police Department requested Arkansas State Police assistance. At approximately 11:40 P.M., West Memphis Police Officer Chad Rash advised he was behind the vehicle on Interstate 55 traveling southbound near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Officer Rash advised the vehicle disregarded the traffic stop and fled south on Interstate 55. I (Trp. Dylan Evans) was in the area and assisted with the pursuit. The vehicle traveled south on Interstate 55 at speeds over 100 miles per hour, weaving in and out of traffic and construction barrels, and showed no regard for the safety of the motoring public. I took primary in the pursuit near the 1-mile marker (Bridgeport exit). I observed the vehicle was a black Infinity with a missing license plate and rear bumper. The Infinity continued to flee southbound in the lane of traffic that was shut down for construction on the bridge. Once across the bridge, the Infinity was trapped in between the concrete barrier walls and behind a bobtailed CMV. I attempted a Tactical Vehicle Intervention on the Infinity, but the driver bailed out and began running on foot. The driver (identified as Freddie Najil) jumped the concrete barrier wall and began running north towards the train tracks. I observed that Najil was holding a large amount of money in both arms as he was running. I gave Najil several verbal commands to get on the ground and he disregarded my commands. While running Najil was dropping money along his trail. Najil continued to run north towards West Vergina Avenue and crossed a 6-foot chain link fence. While on the other side of the fence, Najil dropped all the money and a silver/black pistol. Najil stopped to collect some of the money he dropped, and I deployed my Taser, but it was ineffective. Najil collected some of the money and the pistol and continued running north toward Channel Three Drive. I crossed the fence and continued to pursue Najil on foot. Najil began running across an open field near West Carolina Avene and Channel Three Drive when an unmarked Memphis Organized Crime Unit arrived on the scene. MPD Officer J. Harvey #13940 caught Najil and we placed him in custody. Najil still had a large amount of cash and a firearm on his person at the time of the arrest. The firearm was a silver and black Taurus G2C 40 caliber pistol (SN: SLW90287). The pistol did not have a magazine but did have one live 40 caliber round in the chamber. The arrest scene was released to the Memphis Police Department for their investigation. The Infinity was confirmed stolen out of Memphis, TN. West Memphis Police Department sent a hit on the NCIC and Memphis confirmed it was stolen. The money that Najil dropped was collected by the West Memphis Police Department and released to their CID. The Infinity was released to the West Memphis Police Department for processing and they had it towed by Clark Towing. For additional information please contact the Memphis Police Department
