How to "degree" a cam Part 1, The Basics, Checking your cam against the "Cam Card"

*NOTE* I'm never too embarrassed if someone calls me out when I screw up , or miss something... Thank you "pmuller9" from the Ford Six.com forum for pointing out my error! So it appears that, while my duration and lobe lift are close in with regard to the cam card, I need to double check my actual cam timing. Based on my measurements, it would seem that the cam is 12-13 degrees retarded. That seems like a lot, even considering the poor production tolerances and quality back in the early 80's. So I'm going to go back through and recheck everything again. I did double check to ensure my timing marks were lined up prior to shooting, but I failed to go back and double check TDC after I moved the pointer 4 degrees to reflect "True TDC" and removed the piston stop. So there will be a reshoot LOL! Mikey screwed up! I know a lot of my viewers, as well as some folks from the "Ford Six .com" forum have been waiting for this video. It took a while, but I finally got it done, I hope it doesn't disappoint! In this video I'll cover the basics of checking our new cam against the "Cam Card". Then in Part 2, I'll dive deeper into the finer details like advancing and retarding cam timing, valvetrain geometry, and whatever else I can learn! so stay tuned. While working on the Ole' Blue restoration project's 300 cid 6 cylinder, we made some performance improvements that required some modifications to the valvetrain. So when we got our new Erson RV10H cam, we figured we better degree it to make sure everything matched the included cam card so that it will perform as expected when we fire it up. Here is the link to my previous video where I show how I "made" a solid lifter for use when degreeing this cam;    • Ole' Blue Restoration project Degreei...
