A 4K Walking Tour of The Beautiful Wicklow Town of Avoca, Ireland That Was The Filming Location of Hit TV Series Ballykissangel. Avoca is a small picturesque town situated in a wooded valley on the banks of the Avoca River. Known for its scenic beauty the area was popularized by Thomas Moore in his song The Meetings of The Waters and also by the successful tv series Ballykissangel that was filmed here from 1996-2001. Also in the town is Avoca Handweavers, Ireland's oldest handweaving mill, that was established in 1723. Fitzgerald's Bar still looks exactly as it did during filming and is a friendly and cozy place to stop for a pint of Guinness. Red Kites were reintroduced to the area and these beautiful birds can be seen and heard as they glide through the skies above Avoca.
