From ancient times it is practiced by the Hindus. Early in the morning when the sun is rising in the East and the light emitted is very mild Surya Namaskar is done by facing the Sun with folded hands and reciting the mantra. There are thirteen mantras which should be recited in order during the Surya Namaskar. and simultaneously ten different steps of Yoga should be practiced. Since yogas are exercise of the body, it helps improve, blood circulation, functioning of all the body parts and organs, reduces weight, improves digestion and concentration and makes the bones and muscles flexible and strong. With the Surya Namaskar, one starts the day by saluting the sun by praising it, meaning in sequence of the mantra that the sun is affectionate to all, it is the cause of all the changes and activities, it infuses light and moves in the sky, it nourishes all as it contains everything, it possess the raga and is the God of Gods, it produces everything hence fit to be worshipped, it is the cause of all lustre.
