(21 Sep 2016) Iran's chief of staff of the armed forces (Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran) said on Wednesday that a 38 billion US dollar aid deal between the United States and Israel made Iran more determined to strengthen its military. In comments broadcast live on Iranian state TV during a military parade in the Iranian capital, Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri says the US-Israel aid deal "will make us more determined in strengthening the defence power of the country." Last week the US signed an unprecedented new security agreement with Israel that will give the Israeli military (Israel Defence Forces) 38 billion US dollar over 10 years. Iran does not recognise Israel and supports anti-Israeli militant groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah. Bagheri's remarks were given during an annual military parade on Wednesday marking the anniversary of the Iraq-Iran war in 1980. During the parade Iran displayed its surface-to-surface missiles as well as its air defense systems and other military equipment.
