Fasting can reverse type 2 diabetes by Jason Fung

Fasting is the world's oldest dietary intervention. Jason Fung, a physician, researcher and author, talks about what happens to the body during fasting and how it has helped reverse type 2 diabetes in his patients. One randomized controlled trial of intermittent fasting showed a 47.2% remission rate of type 2 diabetes in the fasting group compared to a 2.8% remission rate in the placebo group. Fasting is a way of switching your body from using glucose to using fat. Fasting has many advantages, such as it's simple, convenient, free, flexible and can be added to any diet. Dr. Fung says: "You feast it and then you fast it, that's the natural cycle." @drjasonfung is a kidney specialist and New York Times best-selling author currently practicing in Toronto, Canada. His books, including The Obesity Code, The Complete Guide to Fasting, The Diabetes Code and The Cancer Code have challenged conventional thinking about these diseases, and introduces dietary strategies to manage them. He is the co-founder of The Fasting Method which provides the education, tools and community needed to successfully implement intermittent fasting. 🥗💡 This talk was presented at the recent "Food for Thought 2023: Rising to the challenge of obesity and diabetes" conference held by Swiss Re Institute and @TheBMJ .
