What is New Leader Assimilation? NLA is a process that accelerates the development of a good working relationship between a new leader and his/her team of direct reports. When a new Leader comes on board, every team wants of course to know more about this person, what are the plans, how will they be working together, what are the changes that can be expected? With this NLA program we accelerate the getting to know each other phase so that everyone understands the new dynamics in place and how to best work together to move forward. By doing this and taking the time for true new leader assimilation, you rapidly install a sense of trust and you create a base for successful collaboration. For Whom is this? All leaders, on all levels, that take up a leadership position for a new team will benefit from this workshop. Even if you are an experienced leader or even if you know the team already, or you might even have been a member of the team yourself, it is very powerful to invest a few hours with the team. It’s a signal to them you are open to their questions and you want to bring trust and take away some of the typical uncertainties linked to a new Leader coming on board. How does it work? We organize a team workshop where I guide the team and the leader through a number of steps that lead to an open dialogue and some good discussion about a number of topics that are relevant for the working relationship at the early stage of a new team formation. The workshop takes 1/2 day and can be extended with a few hours, depending on how long the team has already been working together and on maybe specific topics that need to be addressed or specific goals that the leader wants to achieve with this team session. The workshop will be prepared by me together with the leader, but there is no further preparation required from the team members. The best time to do this is after you’ve been on board for a couple of weeks, so typically within the first 3 months. You’re a bit settled into your new role already and you are now preparing the ground to define and begin to implement your own business strategy. The NLA process is a well-structured process, but we always customize the workshop to the specific situation and needs of the leader and the team. This means that the few hours you spend with the team will really contribute to build a successful working relationship in the interest of everybody.
