Download our free budget tool here: https://www.parallelwealth.com/pl/254324 ------------------------------------ It is now 2021 which means it's time to establish some New Year's Resolutions. The vast majority of resolutions are related to either health or finances; with this YouTube mini series along with our free course, we hope to help aid you in conquering your resolutions and staying true to them all throughout the year. In this first episode, we want to look at how to create a realistic budget to start saving more. Less than 50% of Canadian adults have a budget which can help explain how Canadians as a whole carry $80 billion in credit card debt. You need to come up with a plan AND stick with that plan if you want to see real change in your finances. Your budget should focus on two items: 1) Paying down debt 2) Saving money for short & long term goals We make a key distinction in item number 2: when building your budget, you need to focus on saving more, not spending less. Focusing on spending less will allow you to deviate from the plan whereas if you focus on savings, it forces you to set a savings goal which makes it much harder to deviate from. When you create your budget, make sure that your income exceeds your expenses. If you're having trouble making this equation true, you can do one of two things: 1) Eliminate or reduce some expenses 2) Increase your income through another job or supplemental income The second point may not have been as obvious, but finding a 2nd job part-time or monetizing a skill are two possible routes that you can take to increase your income. We will go over this in more detail in the 4th week of this mini series. ••••• If you have any questions about this video's topic or retirement planning in general, visit https://www.parallelwealth.com/ or use the links below to learn more about our services. ➡️Fee For Service Retirement Planning: https://www.parallelwealth.com/planning ➡️Retirement Income Program™: https://www.parallelwealth.com/invest... ➡️Parallel Wealth Masterclass: https://www.parallelwealth.com/education Additional 3rd Party Links and Resources: 🔗️Retirement Income for Life: Getting More without Saving More (Second Edition): https://amzn.to/3tvIdVN 🔗️Free Credit Report with Borrowell: https://bit.ly/borrowellPWFG 🔗️CPP Calculator: https://research-tools.pwlcapital.com...
