Indian actor-producer Aamir Khan speaks to Haroon Rashid alongside his Laapataa Ladies (Lost Ladies) co-producer, Jyoti Deshpande, about their film being India's official submission to the Oscars as Best International Film nominee. Haroon asks Aamir about why themes of freedom, equality and masculinity are so important to him and appear repeatedly in his films including Dangal and Secret Superstar. Aamir also responds to Shah Rukh Khan's comment regarding why no film has been shortlisted for a Best International Film Oscar since Lagaan in 2002. Jyoti, who has produced 2024's biggest hits including Stree 2, speaks about the current state of the Hindi film industry. Aamir shares his process of choosing films and how he is instinctively drawn towards movies that have something more to say than just entertain. Haroon also reveals his love for Aamir's film Ishq, to which Aamir remembers an anecdote involving Ranbir Kapoor and another one of his own films. And lastly, Aamir recalls which of his own movies are among his favourites.
