Shaboozey - Highway | Vevo Origin Stories In so many ways, Shaboozey is the perfect subject for Vevo Origin Stories, a new series that examines the genesis and journeys of today’s most impressive artists. Evolution is baked into this genre welder’s craft; just peep the title of his breakout 2024 album: ‘Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going.’ To understand how the multiple-GRAMMY nominee led a historic run at the top of the charts with “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” a veritable hoe down of a track that tips a cowboy hat to J-Kwon, you have to go back to his Virginia roots. It’s a state on the border of North and South, where the concrete slap of Pharrell’s beats meet the sweet bluegrass of Emmy Lou Harris (who Shaboozey calls a hero and friend). For him, country and hip-hop don’t collide, they fit like puzzle pieces. “Anyone who knows me knows this is something I’ve been exploring and creating and building out this genre and this sound for years,” he told us at a tavern in Los Angeles, where he now resides. “This is not an overnight thing.” At the same time, 2024 was certainly an inflection point - the right time to take a moment of reflection. To quote some “Good News” lyrics, “What a hell of a year it’s been.” Watch music videos by Shaboozey: / @shaboozey Follow Shaboozey: Instagram: / shaboozey Twitter: / shaboozey Facebook: / shaboozey TikTok: / shaboozey Follow Vevo: Facebook: / vevo X: / vevo Instagram: / vevo TikTok: / vevo Executive Producer: JP Evangelista Executive Producer: Chris Pereira Executive Producer: Jennifer Heath, Radical Media Director: Skyler Brown Director, Line Production: Yanina Molina Producer: Lola Gatti Producer: Daniel Lachman, Radical Media Director of Photography: Iain Trimble Head of Design: Sydney Emery Associate Creative Director: Brian Parisi Director, Post Production: Michael Colman Senior Manager, Post Production: Dominic Siri Senior Director, Talent Booking: Parul Chokshi Director, Talent Booking: Gabby Prisciandaro Senior Manager, Artist & Label Relations: Jordan Ferree 1st AD: Derek Jaeschke 2nd AD: Delaney Forrey Production Manager: PK Adhikary 1st AC: Ryan Sax 2nd AC: Jonathan Cypress DIT: Aashish Gandhi Chief Lighting Technician: Kurtis Myers Asst Set Lighting Technician: James Flynn SLT: Ryan Altman SLT: Harley Lally Lighting Console Programmer: Christopher Smith Key Grip: Kyle Pugsley Best Boy Grip: Jeff Clark Grip: Garrett Waite Grip / Driver: Dietmar Wendelin VTR: Ignacio Martinez Audio Recording Engineer: Casey Graham Audio Recording Engineer: Maja Sazdic Set Decorator: Melisa Jusufi Set Dresser: Kenneth Ojeda Set Dresser: Jamaal Hollis Production Assistant, Talent: Izzy Eyre Production Assistant: Sam Rojano Production Assistant: Rodrigo Giangregorio Production Assistant: Carla Gress Production Assistant: Stephen Shea Production Assistant: Edie Owen Editorial Company: Cut + Run Editor: Ethan Mitchell Assistant Editor: Abby Doherty Finishing Assistant: Sarah Mlcoch Associate Producer: Jessica Antonacci Head of Production: Marcia Wigley Executive Producer: Ellese Shell Managing Partner: Lauren Hertzberg Additional Cleanup: Jogger Studios Color House: Primary Colorist: Jacob McKee Producer: Alex Zhao Producer: Sasha Pace Executive Producer: Christina Roldan Photographer: Allan Pimenta
