In his 2015 book Magicians of the Gods, Graham Hancock, like Welsh Egyptologist John Gwyn Griffith before him examining the Shipwrecked Sailor tale, asks in Chapter 9 Island of the Ka whether Plato truly used Egyptian texts to compose his dialogs Timaeus and Critias, as he has Critias tell us. If this can be proven, the Noble Lie Thesis cannot be true. Classicists claim that Atlantis never existed because they believe that Plato made up the whole story including that it came from Egypt. But this argument is a two-step leap that ignores the possibility that Plato may have indeed used Egyptian texts as Vorlagen (German for original templates) whether or not Atlantis was once a real place. Even if it could be proven that Atlantis never existed does not rule out that this part of the story is true. And if this part of the story is true, Plato didn't make it up. The Noble Lie Thesis falls. Graham performed a structural analysis in MOG ch. 9, which is different from focusing on the details of a story, as many Atlantis hunters have done. The structure of a story is often concealed behind the details, which makes a structural analysis a deeper look at the construct of a story and where it might have originated. For example, Plato may have inherited a "back-of-the-envelope" story concept from Solon and then filled it with details he invented including details of a prehistoric Athens. In this scenario, a partial Noble Lie does not rule out that Atlantis was a real place, nor does it rule out the possibility that the ancient Egyptians were the ones who invented the Island of Fire, the equivalent of Atlantis in the model proposed here mentioned in Egyptian texts at Edfu, Coffin Texts, and the Pyramid Texts. In this video, I show you the primary evidence from the walls of the Temple of Horus in Edfu, Egypt that supports Graham Hancock's distillation of the major structural themes and how they connect from EAE Reymond's 1968 book The mythical Origin of the Egyptian Temple. I conclude that the structure of the Atlantis story and that of the Edfu texts align besides some striking correspondences of story details making the idea that Plato invented his dialogs independent from these Egyptian texts at least improbable, if not impossible. I show that Graham correctly reproduced the basic logic of the major themes, original creation, chaos and destruction, survival, and resurrection and re-creation.
