Snake Facts for Kids; Ever Wondered About Snake Facts?

A fun filled video with lots of snake facts for kids, snake information and lots of snake questions - Why do snakes shed their skins? Why do snakes have fangs? How do snakes eat? and much more. Learn about snakes and reptiles in this fun kids animal video. We believe that kids get excited about animals from an early age, they always feel excited to know more about them; how do they live, eat, move, etc. Snakes come on the long list of animals that kids ask some questions about and here in this video we decided to answer as much as we can from the most asked questions found out there. The biggest snake to be found out there is the anaconda of South America. The Anaconda is a very big and long snake that could grow up to 10 meters. It might be hard for the kids to imagine how long would that end up being, but you could simply tell them that it would be as long as a bus. Snakes are known to have teeth and fangs and this of course is mainly for them to eat and grit their food, but these fangs are found in the poisonous snakes who use them to strike their prey and inject them with poison which shoots out of the holes in the tip. Ever wondered why snakes never blink? That's because they don't actually have eyelids and that is why they always stare. Each eye of the snake is covered by a see-through scale that protects the eye. The interesting thing about snakes is that they always get brand new skin every time they shed their skin. Snakes are not like most of the other animals in that they don't have legs and this is the reason why kids find it weird for them to move and do it easily. One of the different ways that snakes move in is that zig-zag flow that their bodies go through. Even though they don't have legs to help them, most of the snakes are actually good swimmers and tree climbers. Actually the easy movement and bending of the snakes happen because of the hundreds of tiny bones that their bodies are made of. If you have ever paid attention to close videos for the snakes, you will find that they flick their tongues and the reason for this is the fact that when snakes get their tongues out, they pick scents in the air, so the tongues take these to a sensitive area in the mouth and this sends messages to the brain. Some snakes disguise themselves to hide from their preys and others pretend to be dead because that's how they face danger. One of the types that pretend being dead is the European grass snake that turns on its back then it lies with its mouth open and its tongue hanging out, giving the impression that it is dead. How do snakes eat? That's the question at the time. Snakes actually swallow the food directly without even chewing it and that is why they are considered not polite by kids. The interesting thing is watching the process of eating because they actually place their mouth over the food until it is all gone and snakes could also swallow things that are bigger than them because their jaws and bodies are so elastic and helps them in doing so. Did you know that a python could actually survive on just one meal for one year! A python also - in addition to Boa constrictors - can squeeze their preys very hard until they suffocate to death. Baby snakes stay in their eggs to stay safe and this might even take longer than expected. Snakes even break open their shell and poke out their heads to look around. The last interesting thing to mention about snakes is the fact that they shed their skin and actually from three to seven times a year the old skin splits open and peels off and a brand new skin will be waiting under. As interesting for kids to know about snakes, it is also interesting for them to know about the life cycle of a butterfly (   • The Life Cycle of a Butterfly | Cater...  ), know some facts about dinosaurs (   • What Do You Know About Dinosaurs? | D...  ) and lots of other things related to different animal types.
