We use Comparative Adjectives to compare 2 or more things, people or places. We also use them to compare 1 thing, person or place at different times. We use "than" after the comparative adjective to say what we are comparing something with. Example: The cat is smaller than the tiger. In this video, you will learn the spelling rules for comparatives and Superlative. The rules are different depending on whether the adjective is 1 syllable, 2 syllable and more or irregular. ***We add er to one syllable adjective + than Ex: Tall taller than. He is taller than I. Smart smarter than. Your sister is smarter than you. ***We add er after changing y to I to two ending-y syllable adjective + than Ex: Friendly Friendlier than. Happy Happier than. ***We add more to two or more syllable adjective + than Ex: Serious more serious than Confident more confident than We use superlative adjectives to compare 1 thing in a group with all of the other things in the group. We use "the" before the adjective because we are referring to one specific person or thing. In this video, you will learn the spelling rules and how to modify superlatives.
