The last time I came here they said I needed to start all over again, so I’m nervous. The second round of treatment rocked my body pretty good. If you haven’t seen part one of my Leishmania journey, this video won’t make any sense, so I hope you’ve seen that one first:    • My Travel Nightmare: Surviving a Rare...   Leishmaniasis is a a disease caused by a rare flesh eating parasite that you get from the bite of an infected sandfly. Unforutunately, I ran into this sandfly at some point in my adventures with a local tribe in the Amazon Rainforest:    • Day in the Life of an Amazon Jungle T...   This is my journey back to the NIH to see if this travel nightmare is over! Also, when I returned back to San Diego from the NIH, there has been some interesting developments. Under the new Trump presidency, a wide range of restrictions and freezes have been issued across government agencies - one of them being the NIH. a halt on all meetings, hiring, travel, grant reviews, and communication to the public. The NIH is the largest public funder of biomedical research in the world - it invests more than $40 billion in research every year. With a significant portion going to cancer research - $7.3 billion. It is possible this is just a temporary pause on meetings to allow the new Trump team to get their bearings. The memo I read says the freeze end date is February 1.
