NOTE: This is a reupload of a older video now with improvements. After 10 years, BBC Two controller Jane Root wielded the axe on the world-famous 2s. Alas, after years service, the BBC concluded that the much-loved idents were becoming too out of touch with BBC Two’s new ‘lighter’ schedule. So in 2001 the BBC gave branding agency Lambie-Nairn a daunting brief: create a new BBC Two. And so they did. On November 19 2001, the 2 would always be in the same coloured studio, ivory and would have a personality of its own. Instead of over 30 idents there were now just four, and rumour has it that on launch day one network director moaned to anyone who would listen about the restricted choice. The BBC Two logo was relegated to a purple box in the bottom right hand corner of the screen, starting a trend which would eventually be followed by the other three networks These idents were replaced by the "Window on the World" package in 2007 after five years of service.
