NAB Chief Economist predicts five per cent unemployment by end of 2024

NAB Chief Economist Alan Oster says his bank’s forecasts predict “five per cent unemployment by the end of next year” as Australia’s economy continues to ride a fine line in the face of a potential recession. “That is about 230,000 – it doesn’t mean you get 230,000 people being fired,” Mr Oster told Sky News Australia. “There will be more people coming into the labour market who can't get a job.”
