This feature first appeared with beta 2, so you can actually test it out right now if you own a supported Pixel device. #android #android16 #galaxys25 #pixel9 Once this widget is added to the Home Screen, you'll see all of the additional user accounts visible from here. And it just takes a single tap to switch from one user profile to another. There's not much to setting up this feature, so let me walk you through the process. Android 16 Switch User Widget You can setup the new widget from Android 16 to swap between user profiles by simply adding it to your Home Screen. We do this by performing a long-press gesture on any empty spot here. Then we'll select the Widgets option. And from here, we get access to all of the widgets provided to us by Android 16 and our 3rd-party apps. So we just scroll all the way to the bottom, which allows us to quickly find the Users widget. It will use these default images, and we can just drag this widget to anywhere on the Home Screen. Adjust the size if you aren't a fan of how it looks as a 2x2 widget. Now, you won't automatically see the Guest Profile here. This was manually added by me so that I can demonstrate how the feature works. But after you first drop this widget onto the home screen, we can tap on the Settings gear icon in the corner here. This will bring you to the Users page from within the Settings app And we actually have to enable this feature with the toggle up here since it's going to be disabled by default. Once we have turned the feature on, we can then add a user from the list right here. It will walk you through a setup process where you can log into a Google account to access apps from the Play Store. . .and to access data from places like Gmail, Google Drive, and others. With all of that done, you will then see your second profile in the widget here And switching between them couldn't be any easier. conclusion It's kind of surprising to learn it's taken Google this long to add in a widget like this. You could always switch to another user by tapping on your profile image in areas like the Quick Settings panel. But having this widget available on the Home Screen is just a nice convenience to have. We're seeing Google engineers adding polish to the mobile operating system more and more with this Android 16 update. And I look forward to seeing the final update released in the next few months.
