KINGS CANYON National Park We Finally made our way into the Kings Canyon Park to explore it in winter. Kings Canyon has some of the largest Sequoia Trees in the world. One of the Sequoia trees we found had fallen and we made our way INTO the tree, crawling through the biggest Sequoia Tree in Winter!! Because snow was on the ground, it was very icy and we took extra care with our steps to the General Grant tree. The fog is otherworldly in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park. Both parks sit high on the mountain and either entrance in is a twisty climb up. At the top though, just incredible views. Probably some of the most incredible views, fog and sunsets of our lives to date. Up at the top in this tree kingdom, the sequoia trees are all protected from bugs and diseases because of the tannin in their bark, helping them last for hundreds and thousands of years. We also drove to Hume Lake, not far from the park itself, to catch a glmise at the famed Kings Canyon. But as it turns out, the best views into the canyon itself are actually all along the drive in. From Hume lake, we were offered a different perspective though. Quiet, serene. The basin of mud up to the lake covered our boots. Kings Canyon National Park in Winter is a unique experience. Some of the best views, incredible air and huge sequoias.
